The main subject of the movie told through the narrative is the longing for the days passed by. This universally recognizable feeling is shown through the humane and playful details from Ramin`s routine. The main character travels through longing - he watches the wrestling match and later visits his beloved mother`s grave. In her honor he drinks wine in the cemetery, which is one of the most colorful details that reflects Georgian culture. Likewise, it talks about the deepest feelings like love and yearning, while Ramin travels to a distant village to find a woman which he loved decades ago.
The film poetically shows the human relationship with nature - another common trait within cultural tradition. This relation is showed through the motive of Ramin watching Georgian landscapes and through his relation with animals. Here animals are nearly personalized characters with features that people have. For example, the motive of stubborn ram and little kitten that searches for friendship and warmth. It should be remarked that the animal motif is not banal at all – it shows pure primordial human relation with nature which is still alive in Georgia.
