Check out our experiment with using a pair or RM-7 Active DIY Ribbon Mics together with a Zoom H4n recorder. Making this video was a great fun, it was a nice chilled evening on the seaside. Funny, the weather was very still before we started recording, but as I've hit the record button, the wind started blowing. I realized that I needed a heavier wind protection, as the blasts are audible. However, we decided to keep this version, as it sounds great and demonstrates the possibility of using RM-7 Active DIY Ribbon Mics for remote recordings.

The recording demonstrates the sound of an acoustic guitar and relaxed female vocals. Microphone were plugged directly into Zoom H4n and were powered using its +48V phantom power. Such setup works very well, but drains the batteries of Zoom H4n rather quickly. With a pair of new AA batteries the recorded lasts for about 60 - 80 minutes. The microphones were set up as Blumlein pair. The panning was reduced to 20% left and 20% right. The only processing used in DAW were a multiband compressor and a little digital reverb. No EQ was used.
