"Damages caused in Cuba by Hurricane Flora"
Long report on the consequences of the passage of Hurricane Flora over Cuba, causing victims and enormous material damage. For seven days, the inhabitants of the entire eastern part of the island (provinces of Oriente and Camaguey) waged a fierce struggle against the hurricane and the floods that followed. The party committees coordinated the action of the mass organizations of the State which allowed the evacuation of about 150,000 people. The commentator gives meteorological and topographical explanations that led to this disaster. Livestock, crops and harvests were destroyed and it was the floods that
caused the greatest losses. More than 1,000 people died, thousands of houses were destroyed, tens of thousands families of peasants and agricultural workers lost everything. The commentator concludes by saying that the "pain of the humble rejoices the enemies of the people, but that in the face of adversity our heroic and revolutionary people will make the country stronger" and he appeals to the solidarity and work of everyone.
