The Adventures of PC 49 is a 1949 British 'Hammer Film Productions' crime drama film. It features Hugh Latimer, John Penrose, Annette D. Simmonds, Pat Nye, Michael Ripper, and Martin Benson. A police constable goes undercover to catch a gang of truck hijackers and expose their boss. Based on the popular British 'BBC' crime drama radio series. The radio adventures of Police Constable 49, and his girl friday, Joan, during the 1940's and 1950's in London. PC 49 was a uniformed constable, but this didn't deter him from pursuing his own theories in solving cases, frequently to the dismay of his superiors. The radio show mixed drama with light comedy, allowing both PC 49 and Joan to trouble the higher ranking officers who were notionally in charge of his cases, usually by having PC 49 solve them.
