While his wife, Iris (Ida Lupino), is away taking care of a sick sister, building superintendent Artie Sawyer (Andy Griffith) meets young and attractive Claudine (Susanne Hildur) in a bar and offers to let her stay in his building's empty apartment. She accepts, and to Artie's surprise moves in with a shady boyfriend, Billy (Michael Brandon), and two other hoods. Convinced they're up to no good, Artie sneaks into the apartment and discovers plans to detonate a bomb in the bank next door.
Made-For-TV movie based on the 1971 novel of the same title by Fielden Farrington. Originally aired on CBS on November 14, 1972.
The first real dramatic role for Griffith following his eight-year run on The Andy Griffith Show.
This film would lead Griffith to star in a series of TV-movies throughout the 1970s and 1980s before he re-emerged with another successful series (Matlock).
