The 1st movie of 12 is highlighting the political situation in the Republic of Azerbaijan after collapse of Soviet Union. As a part of ex-communist system, Azerbaijan has gained independence and ready to built democratic society. However, the country is facing tremendous difficulties: complicated political and socio-economical situation in one hand and sudden war in Nagorno-Karabakh, started by Armenian Nationalists, which has brought nearly 1 million refugees in the country.
In May, 1994 Abulfaz Elchibey resigned as a President. In June 1993 Heydar Aliyev, the ex-First Secretary of Communist party of Azerbaijan, KGB general, was brought from his townland Nakhichevan to Baku. In October, 1993 he became a President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
