1995 Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park was created with the support of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and German Government. It is the first National Park in the Caucasus region established according to international standards.
It is one of the largest National Park in Europe - it covers more than 85 000 hectares of native forest, sub-alpine and alpine meadows, rangng from 540 to 2642 meters above the sea level and home to rare species of flora and fauna. The large area of diverse mountainous forest has been preserved here in its pristine and virgin state. Within these wirgin forest lives a permanent population of brown bear, wolf, lynx, red deer and chamois.
