Oz Noy, one of the most influential guitarists of modern times, presents his genre-busting mix of jazz, funk, rock, blues and more live at ZigZag! Joining him are organ genius Brian Charette and drum legend Dennis Chambers!
‘It's jazz. It just doesn't sound like it.’ That's how virtuoso guitarist Oz Noy describes his rousing music, which sounds refreshingly new, innovative and lively. Born in Israel, Oz Noy began his professional career at the age of 13 with jazz, blues, pop and rock music. By the age of 16, he was already playing with top Israeli musicians and artists. At the age of 24, he was one of the most established studio guitarists in the country. Oz was also a member of the house band on Israel's most popular television show for more than two years. Since arriving in New York in 1996, Oz has had a major impact on the local and international music scene. His unique and captivating style has broken all the rules of instrumental guitar music by focusing on groove. All-stars such as Keith Carlock, Anton Fig, Vinnie Colaiuta and Dave Weckl often contribute on drums, with Will Lee, James Genus and Reggie Washington among others on bass.
Dennis Chambers is undoubtedly one of the greatest living drummers and has inspired countless drummers around the world and beyond the boundaries of jazz. At the age of 18, Dennis was already playing for Parliament/Funkadelic and remained loyal to unbridled funk for seven years. This was followed by performances and studio work with George Duke, Maceo Parker, the Brecker Brothers, Santana, John McLaughlin, and virtually all the greats of groove and fusion music.
Brian Charette is one of the leading Hammond organists of our time. With his unmistakable groove, modern sound language and flair for thrilling improvisations, he has firmly established himself on the international jazz scene. He was nominated for a Grammy, received the DownBeat Rising Star Award in 2014 and has been one of the magazine's top organists for years. Charette has played with greats such as Lou Donaldson, George Coleman, John Scofield and Stefon Harris and tours worldwide both as a leader and as a sideman.
