Khanty-Mansiysk is the Administrative, historical, cultural, and sports center of Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug — Yugra and is an Oil boom town . located on the Irtysh River. It is one of Russia's richest cities and an Oil hub in Western Siberia.
the City is a centre of skiing/alpine skiing of the universal importance. Biathlon World Championships, Mixed Biathlon Relays, International Chess World Cup have been held in the city and region, Tourism is also a big part of the city's economy.
Today Khanty-Mansiysk is a flourishing town, which in recent years has received considerable foreign investment. a proposed 280-metre high skyscraper will be built overlooking the whole city. When it is built, the Crystal Skyscraper will be one of the tallest buildings in Russia.
