Part 4 of 5 of the 1978 period drama. Cathy dies, but not before giving birth to a daughter, also named Cathy. When Hindley Earnshaw dies of alcoholism, Heathcliff takes over the farmhouse and now distraught over Cathy's death he plots revenge on Edgar Linton while making his wife Isabella's life a misery.
Starring Ken Hutchison, Caroline Langrishe, David Robb, John Duttine, Pat Heywood, Brian Wilde, Barbara Keogh, Cathryn Harrison, David Wilkinson, Maggie Wilkinson, John Golightly, Norman Rutherford, Simon Massey, Andrew Burleigh, Victoria Creed, Harriet Harrison and Angus Rorison. Part 4 will be a new experience for those who have only ever seen the truncated versions of Wuthering Heights, though maybe the cruelty that Heathcliff displays towards his wife and off-spring in his plotting for revenge puts off many who adapt this novel. It is served by the desolate sweeping Yorkshire moors and haunting theme tune that sets the mood, while there is always interest in spotting the famous faces in the cast. For those who recognize Ken Hutchison (who plays Heathcliff in this), it might be from the film Straw Dogs (1971) or from 1980's kids series Murphy's Mob from 1982 to 1985, while Cathryn Harrison (the young Cathy Linton) is Rex Harrison's grand daughter (and Noel Harrison of Windmills of Your Mind fame daughter), who I remember as the posh bird from Poirot's Death in the Clouds in 1992, but has been in many things and this was one of her notable star making roles.
